Haena State Park on Kauai’s North Shore is scheduled to reopen on October 15, 2026, restoring public access to one of the island’s most scenic and popular destinations. The park has been closed since Hurricane Lowell struck Kauai in September, bringing powerful surf, heavy rainfall and widespread damage to parts of the island.
Shuttle service to the park will resume on the same day, along with access to Kee Beach, day-use hiking along the famed Kalalau Trail to Hanakapiai Beach, Hanakapiai Valley and Hanakapiai Falls. The reopening will once again allow visitors to experience the spectacular beaches, lush valleys and dramatic mountain scenery of Kauai’s Napali Coast.
However, overnight camping and hiking beyond the two-mile point of the Kalalau Trail will remain closed until further notice.
