Polihale State Park Closed Until Further Notice

Polihale State Park is closed until further notice following recent storms that deposited mud and debris, according to the Hawaii Division of State Parks.

The closure is in place to allow for cleanup and to ensure safe access conditions. Storm impacts have affected the park’s unpaved access road and surrounding areas, making entry unsafe for vehicles and visitors. No reopening date has been announced.

Current Status of Other State Parks

The Division of State Parks also provided the following updates:

  • Paulaula State Historic Site is closed due to construction.

  • Kokee State Park, Waimea Canyon State Park, and Wailua River State Park are open.

Haena State Park

The full Kalalau Trail will reopen on Thursday morning (March 19, 2026).
